LATE 19TH C, SCOTTISH REGIMENTAL DIRK 79TH REGIMENT OF FOOT #10091

A late 19th century other ranks, un-dress, Scottish Highland Regimental Dirk for the 79th Regiment of Foot (The Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders), 29cm fullered blade with faceted back edge, characteristic carved basket weave wooden hilt with gilt mounts decorated with thistles and oak leaves, the pommel with similar decoration and capped with the Regiment badge "79", the front of the hilt set with 24 brass studs, the bottom of the rear carved with a Scotch plumed bonnet over crossed swords, contained in the original wooden leather covered scabbard, with 4 gilt mounts decorated to match, one mount with Scottish harebells, the upper mount with centred 79 set in an oak leave and thistle garland.
