George Addy (c.1769-1835) was a cutler, who was based in 24 Pea Croft. George Addy & Sons (or more usually ‘Son’) appeared after 1822 at 24 Pea Croft.  George’s son was John Addy (c.1798-1876).  As a merchant/manufacturer, the firm sold table knives and forks, silver and plated dessert knives, pen and pocket knives, and ‘Old English’ razors.  A silver mark was registered in 1825.  George Addy resided in Gell Street, though he was living in Beet Street when he died in January 1835, aged 66.  He was buried in St Peter’s churchyard.
