INDO/PERSIAN MOGHUL PARADE AXE #9577
A mid 19th century Indian Moghul parade axe, Jaipur school, 12 inch by 9 inch crescentic blade etched all over with flowers and inlaid with gold (not brass) figures and canopies, the rear of the axe head etched and en-suite and the flower centres inlaid in gold, the 10 inch metal shaft set in and secured by 3 brass domed rivets into a wooden shaft with a metal end cap, the shaft head with gold inlaid Sanskrit either side which translates as (so I am told) TAWAYAAG and YANAWAAG, 4½ inch spike . Overall 30 inches, the axe head 8 by 4½ inches. #9577fyl
