MUSEUM QUALITY SUPERB MINDANAO MORO KRIS #9570

 A heavy 19th century Philippine Mindanao Kris (also called a Sundang) from the Sulu Archipelago of the Tausug tribe, double edged 17 inch wavy pattern welded forged blade with a central and 2 silver stirrups, the hilt completely covered with tied and knotted cord, horse hoof type pommel, the original wooden scabbard covered in rattan, the top and bottom with applied tortoiseshell and silver pin decoration, the top and bottom of the sheath also with applied nickel strip. Bought by the previous owner in the 1990's from the National Museum of the Philippines
