LATE 19TH c AFRICAN MANGBETU SICKLE KNIFE #9484
A late 19th century African Congo Mangbetu tribe sickle knife of the usual form and heavier than most. Hand forged 9½ inch blade, 7 inches across to the tip, raised central ridge area either side and blackened and filed out to a sharp edge all around and with 2 holes, the bottom of the blade with 2 hand forged protrusions and the whole formed from one piece of iron and the tang peened over at the bottom of the handle, the wooden handle half wrapped a woven and flat wire strip. overall 15½ inches. #9484mlo
