19th C. SPANISH COLONIAL SWORD #9399

A late 18th, early 19th century Spanish Colonial sword with Polish Karabela style hilt,  the straight Spanish double edged 28 inch blade with 3 fullers either side, an indistinct engraved inscription either side says in Spanish "NO ME SATUES SIN RAZON" (Draw me not without reason), the other side says "NO ME NENVAINES SIN HONOR" (Sheath me not without honor), the silver mounted hilt, secured by 4 pins with flower heads, a chain attached, The grip cracked, the original 18th century leather scabbard, with sown decoration in the form of flowers, top and bottom. Overall 33 inches, the tip poking through the bottom of the scabbard,   #9399aea

The Spanish Colonial swords saw service in the Spanish American and Cuban Wars in the late 19th century
