FRENCH NAPOLEONIC AN XI INFANTRY OFFICERS SABRE #9171

A Napoleonic period AN XI French Infantry Hussars Sabre or Briquet, 1813-1852 model, cast brass hilt stamped PARIS and with an inspectors initials "CD". The 23 inch slightly curved blade stamped with a makers mark near the ricasso. No scabbard. Overall 29½ inches. #9171no

This was the kind of sword favoured by Napoleon's troops for Sabrage. (The art of removing the top of a Champagne bottle with the back edge of the sword)
