SILVER MOUNTED SCOTTISH DIRK. BUTTER CLAN #8660

A 19th century silver mounted Scottish dirk of the Butter Clan, Faskally, Pithlochry Perthshire, 30.5cm fullered blade with faceted back edge, characteristic carved wooden hilt decorated with basket weave and polished white metal studs, the pommel set with a citrine stone, contained in the wooden leather covered silver mounted scabbard, the throat mount applied with the family coat of arms in the form of the crest showing 2 arms and a spanned bow and arrow, 2 other mounts with applied crossed thistles, complete with bi-knife and fork, handle and stone missing from the fork. The historic seat of the Butter Clan was Faskally House which was extensively rebuilt and extended in the early 1800's and is now a Christian School, the Clan has no Clan Chief and is known as an armigerous clan, the family motto was "God will Guide"
