A World War 1 officers mess, brass, wooden lined cigar caddy, the 19cm caddy with the badge of the Irish Guards Regiment, and is the star of the Order of St Patrick, an eight-pointed star with a central shamrock over St. Patricks Cross encircled by a Latin motto QUIS SEPARABIT, (Who shall separate us) and the Roman numerals MDCCLXXXIII for 1783, the date refers to the official institution of the Order of St. Patrick by King George III at the request of the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland as a national chivalric order to reward political support in the Irish Parliament.
