WWII GERMAN THIRD REICH ARMY HEER DAGGER #10252
WWII German Third Reich army Heer dagger. Orange solid plastic grip with a carved grove running clockwise on the grip, so this dagger is pre 1939 when the grips changed to being plaster filled. The fittings and sheath of nickel plated alloy, the cross guard cast with an eagle with wings wide open holding an oak leaf wreath in it's talons, at the centre of the wreath is a swastika, the grip and cross guard spacer with a ring of oak leaves, the pommel with a ring of oak leaves rising vertically from the grip to the pommel top, the spacer between the grip and pommel of molded plastic, the pommel screwed on to the blade tang to secure the grip, cross guard and blade, double edged 25.5cm blade with a raised centre section either side, the blade etched with the makers name and trademark, F.W.HÖLLER. BERLIN, the scabbard with a pebble dash finish. The two hanger suspension rings missing. Overall 40cm.
The army dagger was designed by Paul Casburg and was allowed as a side arm option in place of the army sword in 1935
