An unusual silver mounted hallmarked Scottish skean dhu, sgian dubh, 3½ inch single edged, scalloped back blade, the blade stamped, Stainless Steel. Art Pewter Silver. Glasgow. Scotland. carved wooden hilt, silver mounted, the top mount with an amber stone, both mounts with Edinburgh hallmarks for 1997 and the makers initials APS. the wooden, leather covered sheath with silver hallmarked top and bottom mounts both mounts with attached motifs, the top mount with a helmeted Conquistadors head above 2 swords. Overall 7¼ inches.     #9651mlo

The previous owner was a Catholic living in Dublin Eire and the motif on the sheath possibly refers to the Chevaliers de Columb or Knights of Columbus fraternal organisations.
